Milehimama (who lives in South Carolina) has memed me.
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages.)
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.
Since I noticed this at home instead of at work, the chances of the closest book being Catholic are somewhat diminished as most of my Catholic library is in boxes until we can get some more shelves.
So…
The first clang of the bell rang out when they were at the steps.
After that there was nothing to do but sit still till the sermon was over. It was two hours long.
Taken from A Little House Collection by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The closest bookshelf in our living room is full of kids books. This collection is a regular favorite from which our kids choose random chapters to be read at bedtime.
I tag:
Catholic Pillow Fight
Faith of the Fathers
Rome of the West
Ramblings of a Catholic Soccer Mom
The New Liturgical Movement

A fellow blogger, Melissa Wiley, wrote two additional series in the Little House chronicles. The books she wrote are now out of print but the publisher has released abridged versions (because in the world of Bible-length Harry Potter books, a 200 page book is just too much). Amazon is selling these abridged versions but isn’t mentioning that they are abridged. The abridged books have photos on the covers instead of drawings.
If you liked the Little House series, you’ll want to get the original books by Melissa as well. You can still find them used in various places.
