Actually, no. The still from the You Tube video of thirteen pro-life protesters, including two priests, who did get arrested at the Democratic National Convention just happens to show our pastor, Fr. Tom in the midst of the group right before the arrests. He was actually giving them a blessing.

The police in Denver have mellowed since the days when my Aunt was in Operation Rescue. At one rally the police all took off their badges so you couldn’t file a complaint, used excessive force including choking my aunt and tossed her in jail after confiscating her asthma medicine. I sometimes wonder if the US bishops had stood united with the folks from Operation Rescue if the abortion debate would have been settled twenty years ago.
Fr. Tom had been a participant in the prayer vigil at the new Planned Parenthood abortuary in Denver that just opened the night before. The vigil featured Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King.
Since the DNC is still in town and Obama has been annointed as the nominee here are a couple of things to keep in mind about him:
If you are interested in the circus that Nancy Pelosi has become, American Papist has the goods.
Since so much effort is being devoted to distorting the Faith and trying to convince Catholics that abortion is really just a little issue, it’s time to arm yourself with some rational thoughts on the matter:

A few weeks ago Planned Parenthood made national news after it was revealed that the organization had lied about its involvement with the creation of a huge abortion mill in Illinois. Obviously, lying is just part of their modus operandi as has been revealed again in Denver, Colorado.
It was recently discovered that Planned Parenthood is building another mega-facility (all the better to kill you with, my dear) in Denver. The main contractor has refused to back out of the project. It was also just discovered that the property is listed as being owned by United Airlines. United Airlines sold the property last December to a front organization created by Planned Parenthood called Fuller 38. You would think that since the property was no longer owned by United Airlines that the contractor would list the actual owner on permits but as recently as October, 10 months after the purchase, they are still listing United Airlines as the owner.
A couple of the subcontractors have said that they were told by the Weitz Company that the project was for United Airlines.
But what’s a little deception when there are millions of dollars to made off killing babies?

The AP has a story out today with the headline:
Abortion just as common where it’s illegal
That sounds pretty serious. But reading further down in the story you find this:
In North America, there are 33 abortions for every 100 live births, while in Africa, where abortion is illegal in most countries, there are 17 abortions for every 100 live births.
So which is it? Is abortion just as common where it is illegal or not?
And of course, the answer to illegal abortions is contraception, contraception, contraception.
And who did this study?
The study was done by Gilda Sedgh of the Guttmacher Institute in the United States and colleagues from the World Health Organization. It was published in an edition of The Lancet medical journal devoted to maternal health.
“The legal status of abortion has never dissuaded women and couples, who, for whatever reason, seek to end pregnancy,” Beth Fredrick of the International Women’s Health Coalition in the U.S. said in an accompanying commentary.
Oh, the Guttmacher Institute. Just take a quick browse through the site and you will find that they are on the leading edge of unrestricted abortion and contraceptive access, sex “education” for everyone and want the US to fund abortion worldwide. Oh, they also happen to be part of Planned Parenthood.
I’m sure that the survey wasn’t skewed at all.
Update: The Population Research Institute has issued a response noting a possible skewing of data pointing out that while the official statistics from Columbia only show 50 recorded abortions, Guttmacher claims over 100,000.
