Think About This the Next Time You Want to Buy a Cheap Catholic Statue

ChinaNor is it only women and girls who are victims. According to numerous stories leaked out of China by individuals at risk of death, the government also applies a variety of ruthless methods on other family members in order to enforce the policy. "The tactics used are utterly terrifying," says Littlejohn. Recalling a documented incident in March of this year, she says that family planning officials came to the home of a man in order to seize his sister for enforced sterilization. "When she wasn't home, they started beating his father. When he tried to defend his father, one of family planning officials took a long knife, plunged twice into his heart and the man died. That's murder."

Yet so far, the murderer has not been detained, and despite the family trying to get the story out, the media refuse to report on it. "The family planning officials are above the law, they can do anything and get away with it," says Littlejohn. "What they're doing is terrorizing the population."

And this:

The statistics related to China's one-child policy are staggering. Since it was implemented in 1979, the authorities boast that 400 million lives have been prevented. The government also says about 13 million abortions are carried out every year. That amounts to 1,458 every 60 minutes or, as Littlejohn puts it, "a Tiananmen Square massacre every hour."

Why should I "come clean"?? I know the point I'm making: some people find it amusing to oppose abortion on the grounds of philantropy, while they can not be bothered to help a homless person. Don't ask me what I do to homless people. I myself was homless for a while and I still do practice "apostolic poverty" and what is reffered to as "Franciscan abstinence from money" (I have none) but I still help those in need. About the last point: I even know a few pro-lifers who claim they could kill "abortionsts"...in any case I see no point in continuing this particular conversation. Hope we meet again, under more agreable circumstances. Pax&bonum.

Come clean: should it be legal to exterminate the poor? If not, then why is that an acceptable justification for snuffing out the life of a human person in the womb? Furthermore you make an indefensible assertion: Pro-lifers are not content to callously watch people die in the streets. After all, the operators of soup kitchens and homeless shelters are largely pro-life.

the punchline, carl, is that some people who are against abortion have no problem seeing people dying in the streets. William: china has the biggest fogrein currency reserve, of any country in the world in US$. Had they wanted what you reffer to as "utter financial destruction" they could have had it. The story this portal brings is a hoax, as it is the statement of China's government that the "one child policy" collapsed years ago. A story that can only be sold within the US, where no one cares about the thousands of "liberated" iraqi's who got to be called "collateral damage" by US troops....let him throw the first stone who HATH NO SIN! Even from Europe it is obvious that the State departmnemt only enforces "democracy" for countries like Kosovo, a region where the CIA controlls largest opium plantations in Europe. Don't wory most gets sold to US market, courtesy of CIA.

Humans are created from the template of God, made in the image of God and therfore are vastly different than any other life form on Earth. Every human child has a right to survive. Unless of course, you do not believe in a creatOR - in which case there are no absolutes, and it is no problem for you to wipe beating human hearts from the face of the planet. China is a brutal country who is poised to witness our utter financial destruction. Jus sayin

@ikari: your argument makes no sense. Taken to its logical conclusion, you must also support mass execution of the poor. After all, it is better to be killed than live in poverty, right? The proposition that abortion should be allowed, or even enforced, belies a moral bankruptcy that is defined by an utter lack of respect for human life.

ok, I lost some words...I'm commenting on the point how some pro life "activists" remain untouched by the living persons who go uneployed and hungry, while they go for "no-tolerance" in abortion as if they don't really get that some of those might acctually be left unemployed, homless,....

what world do some people live in? it's wrong to have an abortion, for some, but it's OK if these non-abortions die of hunger...unnatural abortion v. natural death...right. -.-'

This conversation was about a specific topic - human rights abuses in China. Stop chasing rabit trails.

The Chinese government reaffirmed its one child policy in April. I suppose that this statement is a hoax created by the US government.

I'm sorry, what is your point?
