News has come out today that the cause for canonization for Fr. Augustus Tolton, the first black priest in the United States, has been opened in Chicago.
To celebrate the Year of the Priest we have been running monthly biographies of heroic priests who aren't saints and who could be considered contemporary. The biography of Fr. Tolton was the second one we wrote to celebrate his heroic patience.
