Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) Central

by Ian on January 19, 2009

If you haven't heard of the new law, you don't have long to get up to speed.

We started calling vendors last week and found that many had never heard of the law and most probably won't be legal in time. We created CPSIA Central to facilitate the communication of vendors and retailers in the Christian markets so that vendors aren't overwhelmed with calls and retailers have a central location to find information on their vendors about safety certification.

If you are a shopper, please tell your local store to get online and read about this law before it is too late to prepare.

“A new law was passed last August “to protect the children”. The new law, called the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, requires all toys for children under 12 to be certified as lead-free along with some other safety requirements.” (I took this from your tag on the CPSIA).

I think it should be clarified that not just toys are included. This draconian law includes EVERYTHING sold for children–books, clothes, toys, DVDs, rosaries, plaques, etc.
