One of our customers became very ill and had to have surgery which laid her up in the hospital for weeks. Even though her business continued to run, (I'm not sure how well) none of her several employees had authority to write checks or pay bills. What if she had died? None of us should be so indispensible that we can't die if God calls us!

Ian,

E-Myth should be on every business owner's dogeared and tattered book list.

It isnt just about getting hit by the bus. You might even want to take a vacation now and then. A parent could be laid up in the hospital or hospice for weeks/months.

Without detailed business procedures, an event like those could put you out of business.

Something to think about. As possibly a supplier of some of your readers, perhaps I shouldn't admit this, but we'd be quickly set back if not shut down if this owner were to kick the bucket suddenly.
