While you have most likely heard of the Little House on the Prairie books, you may not be aware that several series about Laura Ingals’s ancestors have also been written. Two series were written by Melissa Wiley, a Catholic blogging mom. Unfortunately, her publisher, Harper Collins, has decided that today’s kids aren’t up to the task of reading real books and are going to be “abridging” her work to the tune of about one hundred pages per book and taking the originals out of print. Because of this, Melissa decided not to write the remaining books in the series’.

If you liked the originals, I have heard from some that these are even better. Go buy them now for your kids before the dumbed down versions are all that are left.
