Six is…
…the magical number of children that when reached requires you to run the dishwasher at least twice a day so that you have enough dishes and silverware for each meal.

I seem to recall running the dishwasher twice a day before my parents had their sixth…
Maybe you have more dishes.

Dishwasher? My your kids have it plush.
I’m the youngest of seven (I’m 43 now)…we were the “dishwasher.” My folks didn’t get a dishwasher until we were out of the house. We had a duty roster with rotating chores that you became part of when you turned 8 or Nine depending on how mature you were. My folks felt that chores built character and taught us to work together. But, I have to tell you, I have 4 kids and a dishwasher now too…so….sorry Mom!

Our oldest is seven and not quite ready to do dishes without supervision. The kids do, however, clean their rooms, organize the shoe and book shelf, vacuum the kitchen, clear and set the table and help with laundry on a daily basis.
